AC Technician
About this role
We are hiring an AC Technician to install and maintain the cooling systems across our offices, control room, lab and stores. The work covers split, cassette, ducted and package units along with AHU and ventilation systems. Since parts of the site are production and storage areas, you will be working under a permit system and following plant safety procedures throughout.
Responsibilities
- Installation: Install split, cassette, ducted and package AC units in the office, control room, lab and store
- Maintenance: Carry out preventive maintenance, gas charging, filter cleaning, coil washing and refrigerant pressure checks
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose faults in the compressor, PCB, fan motor, sensors, gas leakage and thermostat
- Ducting & Ventilation: Maintain AHU, ducting, exhaust fans and fresh air systems for offices and labs
- PPE: Wear helmet, safety shoes, gloves and goggles at all times in the plant area
- Permit System: Take a work permit before working in production or storage areas
- Leak Detection: Report refrigerant leaks and any chemical smell to HSE immediately
- Electrical Safety: Apply Lockout-Tagout before working on panels, and check earthing
Requirements
- Matric with DAE
- 2 to 3 years of HVAC experience
- Gas charging with R22 and R410A, brazing, vacuum and pressure testing, and multimeter use
- Basic electrical knowledge, HVAC controls and safety procedures
- Physically fit for roof work, night shifts and emergency breakdowns
